International Congress Intellectual Property Protection for Plant Innovation and Quality Distinctive Signs in Europe 2023.

Magister Lvcentinvs and the Department of Commercial Law and Procedural Law of the University of Alicante jointly organised the International Congress Intellectual Property Protection for Plant Innovation and Quality Distinctive Signs in Europe 2023.
This event is organised as part of the Prometheus Project for Research Groups of Excellence granted to the research group of the Department of Commercial Law by the Generalitat Valenciana.
The Congress brought together the main institutions, academic lawyers, associations and specialised producers in the plant varieties and geographical
indications sector. We were honoured to have the participation of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European
Commission (DG AGRI), the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission (DG GROW), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV); the Subdirectorate General for Means of Agricultural Production and the Spanish Plant Variety Office (OEVV) and the Subdirectorate General for Differentiated Quality and Organic Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the National Institute of Intellectual Property of Portugal (INPI PT), the French National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI FR), the National Institute of Intellectual Property of Chile (INAPI), as well as producer associations: National Association of Plant Breeders (ANOVE), the Spanish Association of Designations of Origin (Origen Spain), Organisation for an International Network of Geographical Indications (ORIGIN); Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils (CECRV). The congress, which was attended by more than one hundred participants, analysed the latest developments in plant innovation, quality schemes and the challenges of digitalisation and sustainability, at national, European Union and international level.
